Mission and Vision

Our goal is to raise awareness and influence societal attitudes, service structures, and educational pathways. We aim to promote understanding of a neuro-affirming approach so that everyone is treated with respect and receives the support they need, both in services and in everyday life.

Our Mission

People belonging to neurodiverse groups are often overlooked in social and health services, basic education, higher education, working life, and leisure activities.

This is fundamentally a matter of human rights, non-discrimination and equality. Lack of inclusion and the risk of marginalization are major issues for neurodiverse children, youth, and adults.

Through authentic stories and evidence-based knowledge, we aim to make the invisible visible. This idea also inspired the name of our association. The name #näeNepsy contains a reference to ‘seeing’ and to ‘nepsy’—with ‘nepsy’ being short for ‘neuropsychiatric,’ referring to challenges related to neuropsychiatric conditions.

There are significant regional differences in services. Child welfare is often unnecessarily burdened and is frequently the wrong form of support for neurodiverse individuals, who need help long before the family situation reaches a crisis. Fundamental rights are not fully realized, including the right to work, social security, and access to education.

All of this causes human suffering and economic losses.

Our goal is to raise awareness and influence society, particularly regarding attitudes, service structures, and educational pathways, strengthen service guidance, and highlight future skills needs.

When we began this work, our focus was on an awareness-raising and attitude-change campaign, primarily targeting those who can influence education and healthcare systems, but also reaching everyone affected by these issues.

“We envision a society where everyone receives timely and appropriate support at every stage – through understanding encounters, functional environments, and equitable societal structures.”

Our Vision

As an association, we want change—a world where the voices of neurodiverse individuals are heard and made visible. We are living through a period of societal change, and in 5–10 years, we want to see a world that is equitable, sensory-friendly, and gentle for everyone. The world changes as knowledge and understanding grow. It is time to strengthen inclusion, prevent marginalization, and enable each person to live a life true to themselves. Our goal is a society of dreams, where everyone can thrive.
